Swimsuits

Your "swimming suits" make the whole world laughing at you. Too too much! You kill as in this way! This is no more healthy or sane or within any limits of human reasoning!

To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less if people laugh, because I don't make decisions based on the opinions of those people. But I wonder why this should bother you at all?

And by the way, "the whole world" is quite an exaggeration...

I don't think your anonymous poster noticed your earlier comparisons of Qatar to 18th and 19th century Europe. The swimming suits were quite similar in modesty during those times, though the fassion was a bit less awful. (I've got to say that the prints on those suits were quite horrifying.)

I just got back from a business trip of 2 weeks in Qatar and am quite disappointed to say that I never saw a suit like that during my stay. My friends and I went swimming twice in the Inland Sea, and all the women wore modern swimming suits of modest (by western standards) competition swimming design.

I have to say that I had a lovely time, and will be re-doing my resume for submission to my employer's Qatar location. Qatar seems to be a fine place to raise a family. Even for wild Western gal like myself.

My only concern is finding work for my Fiancee, who has generally worked in the construction sector. Due to all the concrete construction out there, and the cheap price of labor, I don't think he would find much satisfaction in his usual line of work (carpentry).

On the other hand, he is quite handy in the IT sector (moreso than even his average white collar peer) and I was thinking that a move to Qatar might help him break into a new line of work if he chose to do so. What do you think?

The farther away you get from urban areas, the less likely you will be to see the modest suits. A large part of the problem regarding staring comes from male ex-pat workers from south Asia, and the poorer Arab countries. Once you get out of town basically, you are beyond their reach (literally).

I would advise you to marry your fiancee before coming. Life will be much easier for you if you are officially married. The main issues are housing, and sponsorship.

Your fiancee would need a credential of some sort in IT to land a job here most likely. Another option is to teach English as a second language. Tons of people here do that, and for fairly good money.

the swimsuits are interesting (though one has to admit, the colours are 'not very nice'). Is there a website that sells such apparel?

I do not laugh at sisters who cover correctly. In contrary I have big respect for their modesty and dignity. May Allah reward them for this efforts!
